Inclusive bedtime storytelling

Bedtime stories for Deaf parents & CODA families

PillowTales is designed around parent-led bedtime connection. For a Deaf parent with a hearing child, that can mean reading or signing along with the visible story while PillowTales provides spoken narration for the child.

The parent is still part of the story

The aim is not to replace the parent. The text remains available so the parent can follow the story, read, sign, react and share the bedtime moment while narration continues.

Spoken narration when it helps

Built-in narration can provide the spoken story for a hearing child while the parent stays physically and emotionally involved in the routine.

Stories adapted for ages 1–12

PillowTales adapts vocabulary, sentence structure, pacing and story complexity to the child’s age and developmental stage, with Oxford Reading Tree levels used as a reading benchmark where appropriate.

Seven supported languages

Stories can be read and narrated across English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Arabic. Reading and narration languages can be selected independently.

A low-screen bedtime philosophy

PillowTales uses the phone to start the story, not become the story. Once the experience begins, the child can put their head on the pillow, close their eyes and listen while their imagination takes over.
