FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything parents need to know before using PillowTales.

Is PillowTales for parents or children?

PillowTales is designed for parents. Younger children can lie with their head on the pillow and listen while the phone remains with the parent or on the bedside table. Older children may read along.

What ages is PillowTales for?

Stories are available for children aged 3–12. Every story is adjusted to the child’s exact age rather than using one story for a broad age range.

How are stories made age appropriate?

Vocabulary, sentence length, pacing, humour, themes, emotional complexity and plot are adapted for the child’s selected age.

Can I read the story myself?

Yes. Reading the story yourself is a core way to use PillowTales. Narration and Parent Voice are optional assistance.

What is Parent Voice?

Parent Voice allows a parent or trusted family member to record their voice once so selected future stories can be narrated in that familiar voice.

Why does Parent Voice cost extra?

Creating new Parent Voice narration has a genuine processing cost. We keep the subscription lower and charge only when a new Parent Voice narration is created.

Do I pay every time a Parent Voice story is replayed?

No. Once created, the story remains in your library and can be replayed without another Parent Voice credit.

What is included in the monthly plan?

The monthly plan is €4.99 and includes unlimited personalised stories and built-in narration. It does not include Parent Voice credits.

What is included in the annual plan?

The annual plan is €39.99 and includes unlimited personalised stories, built-in narration and 3 Parent Voice credits.

Why is VAT added?

Local VAT or equivalent taxes are collected where required by the relevant app store and local law.

Can I choose any theme?

Yes. Choose a suggested theme or tap Custom and write your own age-appropriate idea.

Can I choose any moral or lesson?

Yes. Choose a suggested moral or use Custom to describe something your child is learning or finding difficult to understand.

Can stories help explain real-life situations?

They can provide gentle, age-appropriate examples around situations such as starting school, sharing, confidence, friendship, moving house or welcoming a sibling. PillowTales is not medical or therapeutic advice.

Can older children read and listen in different languages?

Yes. Older children can read in one supported language while listening in another, including English, Spanish, French, German and Italian.

Are built-in narrators included?

Yes. Built-in narration is included with eligible subscriptions and is separate from Parent Voice.

Can grandparents use Parent Voice?

Yes. A grandparent or another trusted adult can create a voice profile, subject to consent and the app’s voice-recording process.

Is PillowTales on iPhone and Android?

Yes. PillowTales is available on the App Store and Google Play.
